The Competent Crew Course takes you through 5 days of practical instruction covering sailing terminology and parts of a yacht as well as rigging, sail handling, safety and meteorology.

* The RYA Competent Crew Course can be run over a 5 day Monday to Friday or three weekends.  For weekly courses, students may be required to join the yacht on the Sunday evening.

** Food cost will cover breakfast and lunch as well as one dinner on board for the evening of the night sail*. Other evenings we eat in the local pub.

*Night sail at the discretion of instructor if only Competent Crew aboard.



Our Instructors have been with us for a number of seasons and are all very experienced sailors in their own right as well as being highly trained instructors with a wealth of knowledge and talent. Jamie Griffin, our Chief Instructor, has vast experience teaching on the water. Starting in dinghies at a young age and now everything sail and power, he also runs his own video production company. Jon is a Jazz musician and trumpeter. Euan is a professional sailor who as a hobby renovates houses in his spare time…Our instructors have one mutual love and that is being out on the water sharing their knowledge with all who sail with them.
