Thanks Sea Jays,
A very quick note to say thank you very much to you and the team for a really enjoyable and informative week’s sailing. I have sailed yachts on and off for most of my life including a transatlantic race of over 3500 miles, a couple of tall ships races and numerous other adventures abroad and in the UK but I still found the tuition and practical training on the Day Skippers Course at Seajays Sailing school both enjoyable and incredibly useful and informative.
The training provided me with numerous opportunities to re-learn things I had forgotten but it also enabled me to learn and practice many new techniques too. You are clearly never too old to learn new tricks! Keep it up and thanks to all the instructors and examiners involved in the week.
p.s. Well done arranging to have the Solent to ourselves most of the week… I am still not sure that it didn’t have something to do with the prevailing SW force 7 or 8 all week. By the way you need to reset your wind alarm to something over 30knots as we got bored resetting it all week!!

I had a great week on the day skipper course. Gareth is a great teacher patient but demands high standards. Thanks again to him. The boat was great. Learnt a lot despite the other world distractions. Lymington is a great spring board for sailing.
Would be happy to recommend.
Just a quick e-mail to say how much I enjoyed the course. The theory course was well presented and very thorough. I would thoroughly recommend yourselves to anyone if asked.
I would like to say what a fantastic weekend my friends and I have just had sailing in the Solent with SeaJay’s. We were really lucky with the weather and had a great weekend. Simon is a very knowledgeable, friendly, relaxed and helpful Skipper that made the weekend even more enjoyable.
We will definitely be sailing again and would not hesitate to recommend your services to anybody interested in sailing.
I’ve had a fantastic, educational and fun week with CJ and my co-learners this week.Thank you for being so responsive on my first enquiry which has in turn re-ignited my passion for sailing. CJ is an excellent instructor who both pushed and empowered us to improve our game.
I return far more confident about extending my sailing experience and look forward to more fun weeks in the future.
I hope you recall Natasha and myself from comp crew training back in cold February when we had to break the ice to get the boat out of Berthon.
Since then we’ve progressed. Finished our day skipper and been out many times in the Solent in our little folk boat and have explored the island a bit. We even took the plunge in Turkey this summer and charter a 44′ Bavaria that was sitting idle in the marina and taught the kids a bit about sailing.
So we just wanted to say a thank you to you for your help in getting us started – it’s opened up a whole new way of life.
I’m still thinking about how to get the kids trained for at least comp crew level (14, 15, 17 yrs), so if you have any option that might be available?
Just wanted to drop you a quick email of thanks for the excellent competent crew course that I attended from 26-30th November. Dave was an outstanding instructor and was able to take us through the syllabus very efficiently and effectively ensuring that we were able to pick up the basics but also extending us somewhat towards some of the more complex areas such as picking up mooring buoys under sail. In short I would wholeheartedly recommend both Sea Jays Sailing School, and Dave as a skipper.
C.J. I would like to let you know how much I enjoyed sailing in the Solent with Sea Jay’s Sailing School. The care that both you and your instructor took in assessing and providing for the various needs of the pupils on board was quite exceptional. Even in almost Arctic conditions it was a joy sailing in the Solent in a such a well founded boat.
Not only was Sea Jay 1V an ideal boat for tuition but our instructor made maximum use of the available time, weather conditions and tidal steams to cover all the aspects of the course, making it fun and a pleasure to sail with him. I have sailed with several sea schools in various sailing areas and can honestly say that none have given better care and attention to, or shown more interest in, the requirements of those on the course.
Please would you convey my thanks to our instructor. I hope to maintain contact with you and Sea Jay’s Sailing School for my future sailing.
Yours with thanks.
Hi C.J. Wanted to thank you taking myself and Steve through our Yacht Master prep week in March. I am sure we would not have passed the exam without your support, flexibility and the expert tuition from Dave our Instructor. The boat was in fine order (on-board heater was a key requirement), you arranged the week around our specific needs, and Dave knew exactly what had to be done to get us ready for the exam.
He is a calming influence and really made the difference during those nervous evenings of cramming. I would recommend Seajay sailing school to anyone looking for a personalised approach. Berthon mariner also makes a key difference.
Hi CJ, Just a quick note to say thank you for organizing this prep week. Steward Dray is a superb instructor. He works really hard and doesn’t give up on any of his crew until he’s got the best out of each one them within the time frame. I learnt a lot from him and I’m grateful for his help in getting me through the exam. I can now move on and continue to build on my experience as a qualified Skipper.
Word of mouth is a powerful advertising tool and I will have no hesitation in recommending Sea Jay Sailing to my sailing fraternity. Many thanks for you help and a nice touch seeing you on the day of the exam to wish me good luck. Very best wishes for Christmas and for a very good sailing year in 2014.
Hi Charles, A quick note to say thanks very much for the Day Skipper Practical and Theory completion last Sunday. As usual, Dave Shims was the perfect instructor and tutor for the practical side. His obvious knowledge, skill and experience was apparent and everything was presented in a calm and pragmatic way. Thanks also to Andrew for the classroom instruction which was delivered in a methodical yet interesting manner.
Both are a credit to SeaJays and it is reassuring to know that the qualification needs to be earned yet the level of instruction gave me confidence that it was achievable. I shall be back for Coastal Skipper once I have racked up some more miles and experience.
I can only echo Bill’s comments and thank you for an excellent course and congratulate you for your choice of training staff – both Dave and Andrew being exceptional in their roles. I hope to see you in 2016 for the Coastal Skipper course.
Have a good Christmas and all the best for the new year.
