RYA Day Skipper Sailing Course - Practical

The RYA Day Skipper Practical Course is designed to teach students to assume full responsibility for the yacht and its crew.  These responsibilities include supplies, engine maintenance, sail selection, passage planning, watches, navigation, pilotage and weather forecasting.

RYA Day Skipper is the ideal course for anyone about to buy their own yacht.  Students must have attained Competent Crew level ability and completed the basic shore-based theory course or attained this practical and theory ability level independently.

You will skipper the yacht on short passages on the Solent and there will be much emphasis on boat handling and mooring.
Day Skipper students live aboard Sea Jay during of the course.  You will visit different harbours and anchorages to practice pilotage techniques.
You will also complete at least 4 night hours sailing to experience night pilotage and identify navigation lights.

This RYA Day Skipper course aims to provide you with the skill and confidence required to undertake a short passage in tidal waters as the skipper and be able to berth the boat safely. 

On successful completion of this course, you will receive:
